Faith's First Yo Gabba Gabba Birthday Party with @1stWishes {sponsored}

This past weekend we celebrated my cousin's one year birthday party. She and Liam are a little under two months apart in age, so I am sure we will be celebrating a lot of similar milestones together. That is the great thing about having such a large family – the friendships and bonds created are inevitable. Plus, there is never a shortage of adventures to go on. This party was no different.

When planning a child's birthday party, one of the first things that you do is come up with an overall theme. There are plenty of ideas for themes over at 1stWishes.com by Birthday Express, by the way. If you remember from an earlier post, I was last minute with planning Liam's first birthday party, so I just went with a rainbow theme. It came out pretty good considering it was three days before the actual event. I probably would have gone a bit overboard if I had planned a month before. But, there will be plenty of other birthday parties to plan. The possibilities are endless.

Faith's party was in the theme of Yo Gabba Gabba. Her mother (my cousin), Yolanda, is pretty crafty and creative. She saved a lot of money by replicating ideas that she had seen on the ever-so-handy Pinterest. She did a lot of the projects on her own by simply purchasing the required materials and getting crafty. In the end, they turned out wonderfully.

Not all of the items were handmade. 1stwishes.com was gracious enough to send over a few special items to add to the Yo Gabba Gabba fun.

Yo Gabba Gabba Play Tent:

The tent was easy to assemble. It is also easy to take down, if necessary. The light weight of the tent makes it easy to move around, too. It is a great size for toddlers to fit in. Not only can it serve as decoration, but it can also be used for play even after the party is over. It makes a great gift...that keeps on giving.

DJ Lance Glasses (8 pack) and Yo Gabba Gabba! Trucker Hat (8 pack)

The glasses and hat did not hold up as well. I think they would have had the party-goers been a little older. With tiny tots, it is hard to keep their hands from destroying anything. They all wanted to rip the paper glasses and smash the hat.

The trucker hat comes on a sheet of paper with perforated edges. You have to punch it out and assemble it. It is not that difficult to figure out, but it requires some patience. I would suggest using some tape to reinforce the strength of the hat.

The party was a success. The cheerful colors and theme added to the excitement of the day. Even though first birthday parties are, in my opinion, more about the adults than the children, I believe they create some great memories. Just look at a few of them:

If you need an idea for your child's next birthday party, head on over to 1stwishes.com to get started. Make your child's day "adorable and affordable"...like the birthday girl (minus the affordable part).
