Spring Exploration at Sheraton Premiere at Tysons Corner #sponsored @sheratonhotels

It's finally feeling like Spring in the area, after months of roller coaster temperatures and endless predictability. At one point, I was wearing shorts, snow boots and a sweater...at the same time. So, you can bet I was more than thrilled when I was contacted by a local Sheraton hotel to visit for a one-night stay. I was a beyond excited to wind down my windows, pump up the music and cruise down the beltway to Virginia this past weekend for a much-needed getaway to Sheraton Premiere at Tysons Corner.

I was originally going to go alone. I needed a little breather from motherhood and wanted to clear my mind. I also wanted to be able to use the bathroom without the possibility of an interruption from one of my children. Ironically, I wanted the entire family to enjoy a quick getaway to "get away" from all the chaos at home. We are always on the go and this was a great way to stop, drop and roll with it. Don't be alarmed – there was no fire!

We received a complimentary, one-night stay at the Sheraton Premiere at Tysons Corner. Just a short drive from the Nation's capital, Washington, D.C., this Sheraton location was the perfect local getaway for us. It did not hurt that one of the greatest shopping malls in the area was only minutes away, Tysons Galleria.

Our room was standard. Bed. Television with cable channels. Bathroom with tub and shower. Coffee Maker. Complimentary water. Ice Bucket. Iron. Ironing board. Robe. Desk. Alarm clock. Telephone. Chairs with stools.  You know, all the things you need to function in a room away from home.

There was a neutral palette. The hallway was the same. There was nothing too dramatic that caused my eyes to stay focused on it all day and night. There were hints of the Washington, D.C. shown in the artwork in both the main room and the bathroom.

As a part of the SPRING EXPLORATION PACKAGE, available now through May 22, 2014, we were able to take advantage of the following extra amenities and services with the purchase of Club Level Accommodations or Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) – Breakfast with a Side of Savings Package (Friday – Sunday):

· Enjoy a room with a view: Blue Ridge Mountains, Virginia Woodlands or Tysons Corner Skyline

Our room was on the 23rd floor and had a view of the Tysons Corner Skyline. It was comprised of a lot of the main highway, lots of shops and a peek at the woods to the right. Although we were near the highway and local businesses, I never heard the traffic in our room.

· Receive a “Spring Exploration” packet with area guides, maps, tips and helpful local information

· A complimentary spring themed appetizer at Brix & Ale, specially designed by Executive Chef Miller

Brix & Ale is located in the lobby of the Sheraton Premiere. It is beautifully designed with clean lines and fun furniture pieces. Before heading home, my son wanted to get his free appetizer. He ordered the calamari to-go. It was roughly $7 on the menu, but free when he redeemed the card that came in our welcome package. It wasn't the best he's had, but he did enjoy the sauce.

· Refresh with complimentary access to a state of the art Health and Fitness Room, Indoor Pool and Whirlpool

I love a hotel with an indoor pool. There Sheraton Premiere has both an indoor and outdoor pool. During our stay, only the indoor pool was open for the current season. This will change when it warms up. I took the boys down in the morning so that we could get a quick dip. There is a lot of seating and towels for your use. A lifeguard is on duty, obviously. The pool is a good size. It was also heated. That made it easy for us to get in and harder to get out. My youngest, who recently turned one year old, loved it.

Just on the other side of the glass wall, you can see the Health and Fitness room. We did not get our workout on, but we did check it out. I like that it is open 24 hours a day to accommodate the varying schedules of the guests.

· Enjoy the conveniences of complimentary Guest Room High Speed Internet Access and Overnight Parking

For once, I was not "plugged in". I am normally on my phone all the time at home, checking e-mails, updating statuses, sharing pictures and anything else that falls under social media. I only took my phone or the iPad out to snap pictures of my visit. We did not use the Internet Access.

The parking lot is located in front of the hotel. There were ample spaces available. You'll have to check the site for details on pricing. As a part of this package, there was no charge to park.

The Spring Exploration package will allow guests to receive these extra amenities and services for the featured promotions:

Club Level Guest Room Experience:

· Unlimited access to our private Club Lounge featuring spectacular views

This was a real treat. Just one level above us was the Club Lounge, on the 24th floor. Because it is only available to select guests, there wasn't a crowd. It was a good escape. The view is absolutely amazing. It is stocked with fresh fruit, snack bars, drinks, a coffee machine, newspapers to read, televisions to watch and a computer station for you to get some work done.

· Complimentary breakfast and evening hors d'oeuvres in the Club lounge daily
· Enjoy upgraded amenities in your Club guestroom including complimentary Wi-Fi

o $119.00 + tax of 12%

The Sheraton Premiere at Tysons Corner was a great place to stay. It was located in the perfect spot – great access to shops, restaurants and businesses, but tucked away enough to be away from it all. As I mentioned before, I never heard cars in the room during the day or night. There is a Wal-Mart located in the building beside the hotel. It is open for 24 hours, so if you happen to forget something at home, you can stop in for just about anything. I sent Ian in there to pick up something for Liam and he walked back to the hotel because it was just that close. If you do not want to utilize room service or eat at Brix and Ale, located in the hotel, there are an overwhelming amount of food options to choose from. Some are walking distances, while other restaurants require just a short drive. This is a bonus.

Upon my arrival, I did have to wait a few extra minutes at the check-in desk. There seemed to be a lot of wedding activity taking place. There was a wedding party checking in just as I was arriving. Later on in my stay, I ran into another group who was touring the hotel to possibly host their wedding there. I'm assuming the Sheraton Premiere is a popular place to host weddings and receptions. They have a lot of space for it. I took that time to check out the beautiful decor and features in the lobby.

As a blogger, I liked all the access I had to a computer. Not everyone likes to be tied down to the room or feels like toting around a laptop to get work done. There is a spot just for those who need to connect. The Link@Sheraton experienced with Microsoft. It is adjacent to Brix and Ale. There is even a sitting area with a television if you want to unwind.

I would definitely recommend that you take advantage of a package deal when visiting the Sheraton Premiere at Tysons Corner. You will save on Wi-Fi charges alone (that's a big deal for me...otherwise there is a fee to use it). As always, my gripe with my hotel rooms is that they do not have a refrigerator in them. For people traveling with babies, there are items that need to be kept cool overnight. Also, if you do decide to eat at a restaurant, you will not have anywhere to put your leftovers if you have them. We were able to come up with a clever solutions to our problems, but I just which this was a standard amenity. We checked out from our television in the room when it was time to leave.

Thanks to the Sheraton Premiere at Tysons Corner for having us. It was a great retreat from everyday life.
