MakerWear Hats Now Available at Target #PoweredByThePeople {sponsored}

Finally, my bad hair days have turned to good ones thanks to MakerWear and their awesome selection of hats, available at select Target locations.  MakerWear provided me with three hats (and a lovely gift card to Target) for me to review and style my own way. Here are the three I chose:

If you followed my Instagram over the weekend, you may have noticed that I wore the MOUNTAIN HIGH hat to Deep Creek in McHenry, MD for a weekend retreat with friends and family. It was the perfect compliment to the beautiful landscape surrounding our cabin and seemingly appropriate considering we really were high up in the mountains. I wanted to be comfortable and casual for the three hour car ride, but still add an element of fun to my outfit. This hat was the perfect accessory.

There is a lot more to this hat business than being a great piece to pack in your luggage for a weekend adventure. There is an actual story behind how these particular designs are chosen and who the people are behind them.
MakerWear looks to the crowd for designs that stand above it. The best designs get made. The designers gets paid. It's that simple. But it changes everything. MakerWear calls it "curated crowd sourcing" and it's a powerful new way to bring fashion to the market. Anyone who wants to can submit a design, or vote for their favorite. "Curated crowd sourcing" allows hidden talent to be discovered. It allows designers to profit from their creativity. And it transforms cool ideas into real, tangible products, and puts them on the shelves of stores everyone knows. Like Target.
I am not an everyday hat girl. I usually throw one on when I head out to run errands and did not have time to do anything to my hair for the day (which is a lot being the mother an infant). I think what I like most about the MakerWear hats is the unique and quirky designs. They are fun to wear and can jazz up even the simplest of outfits. Even if I am wearing sweatpants, the hat makes me feel pulled together. I love that I can dress them up or down with effortlessness.

Here are the outfits that I came up with using the three hats that I was sent to review:

MOUNTAIN HIGH
Stylized Trucker
MakerWear Mountain High Hat, Gap Men's Denim Shirt, Gap Striped Scarf, The Limited Pleated Maxi Skirt, Banana Republic Zig-Zag purse, Jacyln Smith Gloves, Timberland Boots

BACON TAIL
Baseball Cap
MakerWear Bacon Tail Hat, Mossimo Cropped Flower Denim Jacket, Old Navy Chambray Dress, Gap Striped Scarf, Route 66 Boots, Thrifted Purse, Costume Jewelry

PUT A BIRD ON IT
Five Panel
MakerWear Put A Bird On It Hat, Gap Scarf, Levi's Denim Jacket, Vintage Bathing Suit, The Limited Printed Pants, Thrifted Purse, Steven by Steve Madden Booties, Costume Jewelry

I had so much fun styling these hats. I could probably come up with so many other combinations. That is what makes a hat the perfect accessory – you can change it up each time you wear it. In just a week's time, I have worn my Mountain High hat quite a lot. I am sure I will do the same with the others.
