Getting Thrifty with Baby Items
Having a child can be expensive, but it doesn't have to be. There are always ways to cut costs whenever shopping is involved.
Hand-me downs.
Sales and clearance.
Recycling older sibling's clothing.
Swaps.
And of course my absolute favorite – thrift stores and consignment shops.
Would you believe I purchased all of the items in the photo above for $23?!
At the Clothes Box thrift shop, located inside of the Anne Arundel Medical Center where my OB/GYN is located, I stumbled upon a $1.00 bin filled with baby clothing.
I was able to find five items at $1.00 each, along with two baby blankets for $4.00.
I've seen pacifiers that cost this much. Not that anything is wrong with that. If you have it, then go for it. But if you are on a budget like me, there is a bargain out there just waiting to be discovered.
Check out the items I found at amazing prices.
So there you have it. Babies don't have to cost an arm and a leg...just a uterus and maybe a boob. LOL.
Just to compare, I looked up a few of the items online. The price I paid is in parenthesis.
RoomMates Kids Jungle Adventure Peel & Stick Decals ~ Amazon.com ~ $12.99 ($4.00)
Are You My Mother? book ~ Amazon.com ~ $8.99 ($.50)
Giraffes Can't Dance book ~ Amazon.com ~ $16.99 ($.75)
A Little Book of Manners for Boys ~ Amazon.com ~ $14.99 ($.50)
By the way, if you missed my $3 Fisher Price cradle 'n swing set post, go check it out. I saw the same one today at another consignment shop for...$55. I had to chuckle!
But I didn't want to chuckle too much. The baby is growing tossing and turning all the time now. Here is my 30 weeks picture.
I feel great. I'm just a little tired. But not too tired to visit a thrift shop here and there. ;-)
Is there anything you found recently for your child that was such a great deal?
