Michael Jackson's Vision Review
On the morning of Christmas, it's no wonder the tree was not swaying to the beat of Michael Jackson. Surrounded by the aroma of a Balsam Fir and accompanied by some of the hottest toys of the season was a "Michael Jackson's Vision" DVD set. I knew Kaden, who has developed quite a liking for all things MJ, would be excited to open up this present. There is no way Santa was getting credit for this.
I was right on the money. He opened the DVD set and stared at it for a few moments. I don't think he expected it. Either that, or he was just unsure as to what it was. It may have something to do with the unique cover of the DVD set. "The state-of-the-art packaging includes cover art using lenticular virtual imaging technology to vividly represent memorable scenes from Michael Jackson's signature short films." - Sony Music
The "Michael Jackson's Vision" DVD was released on November 22, 2010. This set was the perfect addition this holiday season. Kaden also received a Michael Jackson Experience Nintendo Wii game, a "This is It" CD, and newly-gifted iPod Touch with Michael Jackson tunes courtesy of his aunt. Whew, who's bad?!
What's great about this DVD set is the amount of exclusives and firsts. This set runs for over 4.5 hours on a total of 3 DVDs. There are 40 videos, including 10 videos that have never been released on DVD. As a special treat, "One More Chance" written by R. Kelly, makes a debut on this DVD set. Also, there is a 60-page glossy hard-bound book that includes behind-the-scenes photos from Michael's personal archives. "Michael Jackson's Vision" is a collectors dream.
We watched the DVD on Christmas day. I was tempted to break out the popcorn. Michael's videos are really like short films. Each time you watch them, it's like seeing them for the first time. I love "Rock With You", mainly for the outfit and boots Michael wears. It's my absolute favorite with all the sparkles. I also love the simplicity of the video — just MJ singing and dancing against a simple background. AND, we all know the power and notoriety "Thriller" has received.
"Jackson's short-form zombie dance party masterpiece, "Thriller," famously directed by John Landis, remains a cultural phenomenon. It recently became the first (and only) music video to be inducted by the Library of Congress into the National Film Registry, an elite collection of only a few hundred films." -Sony Music
