Equip Them Well, Prevent MRSA

After milling through piles of small clothes, shoes, and other belongings, I decided they needed a new home. I stopped at the consignment shop.

When ever I begin the selection process of items to donate, I never consider sporting goods. One of the reasons is that we love to play at home with most of our equipment, so there is no need to get rid of it. The other reason is the issue of safety. I always have questions.

How safe is it to donate equipment that has seen its fair share of sweat and other germs over a long period of time?

What can I do to make the equipment more safe for someone else to use?

What is MSRA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) ?

A skin infection and a potentially life threatening antibiotic resistant Staph infection that is the cause of 56 percent of all infectious disease outbreaks in competitive sports in the U.S. (taken from the One2One Network site).
