My (maternal) Grandparents pictured with 3 of the oldest children

What makes a grandparent so 'GRAND'? It could have something to do with their wisdom in parenting. They have done it for many years. It may have to do with their ability to create a smile upon your child's face with each visit to their home. Perhaps it is their undying love - there is absolutely no limit. Sometimes it's the stories they share with your child that portray you as a superhero. Other times it's the generosity they extend to your family when you need a helping hand. Most of the time, it's simply because they are available...in every meaning of the word.

Our family has been truly blessed. Kaden has the best grandparents in the world. The funniest thing about his relationship with each, is the distinct name he calls them. No one is called the traditional 'grandma' or 'grandpa'. Here are the names Kaden has for his Grandparents:
  • Ya-Ya
  • Pop-Pop
  • Ma
  • Papi/Poppy
Aren't those the cutest names? I think so.

Each one of them has been an integral part of Kaden's life. Besides the normal financial backing, they have each made a footprint on his journey from birth to the present day.

Their love - unconditional.
Their efforts - tremendous.
Their teachings - valuable.
Their worth - priceless.

My (maternal) Grandfather with my younger cousin

No matter how what you call it...

admirable, awe-inspiring, dynamite, exalted, excellent, fab, fine, first-class, first-rate, glorious, grandiose, haughty, illustrious, imposing, large, lofty, luxurious, magnificent, majestic, marvelous, monumental, noble, opulent, ostentatious, outstanding, palatial, pompous, pretentious, regal, rich, smashing, something else, splendid, stately, striking, sublime, sumptuous, super, superb, terrific, unreal, very good

...in the end, they will always remain GRAND.

My (maternal) Grandparents as a young couple

Tell them how much they mean to you, not just Sunday, but everyday. I have lost some of my grandparents, but they have all been a very important part of my life. I am honored to still have a relationship with my living grandparents now. Even more so, I live directly across the street from my widowed grandmother (pictured above). I enjoy spending time with her. She has been blessed with over 80 years on this earth. I look forward to spreading her wisdom and guidance to other members of my family and to my friends.

Happy Grandparents Day everyone. Enjoy!
