Thalon Myers ~ Heaven is Filled With Angels
It is hard to even say, or write, but death takes place everyday. Even those with the utmost belief in God still question, "Why?" No one really understands how or why someone so near and dear to them has to leave the earth so unexpectedly. There is nothing that can be said, done, or even hoped that could ever take-away the immediate grief that is felt when we lose a loved-one. But, what has been clearly evident over the last few days is the sense of community that erupts when someone loses a child.
As we have watched the numbers climb higher and higher each day to raise money for little Madeline Spohr, there is an immediate belief in the power of unity. Strangers, friends, relatives, neighbors, and people from all realms of life come together to make 'it' happen. Whether 'it' be making food for the grieving family, sending a simple note of encouragement, tweeting and retweeting information to spread, holding a hand tighter, or even your child for that matter, people come together when it means the most.
I'm am saddened to report the Sisterhood of Motherhood has lost yet another angel on earth. Thalon Bruce Myers lost his life on April 12, 2009. He was just shy of 4 months old, but was able to leave his mark through the moments shared on the blog gorillabuns. His mother's wity and humorous portrayl of everyday life was timeless. She did for bloggers what one can only aspire to do on a daily basis, and that is to make people laugh. Here is one of my favorite pictures of Thalon form the blog gorillabuns (all images and words are the complete work of Shana):

His mother, Shana, writes:
"By looking at this picture, one might be thinking I left my newest offspring alone to fend for himself from his sisters. You would be completely wrong if this was your thought. This careful staging is the fine work of a bored father.
This little dude doesn't really stand a chance living with us."
This was just a snippet of the amazing stories being told on the gorillabuns blog. You can learn more about Thalon's short time here on earth through the blog.

I leave you with a video that always brings me to a place of calm whenever I think of the death of a small child. It is titled "Fly" by Celine Dion. I use to listen to this song endlessly when it first debuted. Celine wrote the song for her young niece who lost her battle with cystic fibrosis in May 1993. I hope it brings you calm as well.

Fly, fly little wing
Fly beyond imagining
The softest cloud, the whitest dove
Upon the wind of heaven's love
Past the planets and the stars
Leave this lonely world of ours
Escape the sorrow and the pain
And fly again
Edited: (Fly, fly precious one
Your endless journey has begun
Take your gentle happiness
Far too beautiful for this
Cross over to the other shore
There is peace forevermore
But hold this mem'ry bittersweet
Until we meet)
Fly, fly do not fear
Don't waste a breath, don't shed a tear
Your heart is pure, your soul is free
Be on your way, don't wait for me
Above the universe you'll climb
On beyond the hands of time
The moon will rise, the sun will set
But I won't forget
Fly, fly little wing
Fly where only angels sing
Fly away, the time is right
Go now, find the light
Don't forget to hug your children tighter tonight!Fly beyond imagining
The softest cloud, the whitest dove
Upon the wind of heaven's love
Past the planets and the stars
Leave this lonely world of ours
Escape the sorrow and the pain
And fly again
