This Just In!
UPDATE: Baby Iyana had to spend 48 hours at Children's Hospital for Meconium Aspiration Syndrome (Google it if you don't know). Luckily, she had a minor case of MAS, so she is on her way to reunite with Mommy, Daddy, and siblings. I am taking Mariah to see her lil' sis today. She's so excited, contrary to her response in the video below. Thanks to everyone for their support and prayers. Hopefully I will have pictures to share.
At 2:00 PM EST, I will have a new, baby cousin. Iyana Malea (Obama inspired) is ready to make her entrance into the world...5 days early. She was scheduled to make her debut on Friday the 13th. But, who are we to tell a baby when the time is right?
I received a call from Mom, Nicole, this morning, asking me if I could come right away to get Mariah a.k.a. Daisy a.k.a my Goddaughter. Of course I jetted out the door. You would think I was in labor ( I actually felt pains in my uterus. Sort of like Nicole was my twin sister and I was sharing her contractions).
I met up with Nicole and her Mom in record speed. Mariah's Dad is my 1st cousin. He was at work in D.C., a whole 45 minutes away from the hospital. Everyone was banking on the March 13 arrival, so this came as a surprise.
I am scheduled to receive updates. I am so excited and waiting in anticipation. Nicole talked to me through her contractions with no problem. Bravo for her! She is unable to receive any relief from pain until she digests her breakfast. Turns out it's not safe to have a full tummy when you're going in for a C-section.
I told Mariah her sister was coming when she woke from her nap. She looked at me as if to say, "I don't really care!" I know she's going to be excited. We are heading there after Kaden gets off the school bus. Another eventful day. Whew, let me brace myself. My parenting will be put to the test in the next days to come.
Here's Mariah's take on the entire 'situation':
THE CASE: Stepping-up to help another Mother in need
THE VERDICT: Guilty

P.S. I caught Mariah in a corner stuffing powdered donuts into her mouth. Someone pray for me, lol!
